The Royal County Down Golf Club was founded in 1889. Royal County Down is located in one of the world’s most naturally beautiful links settings in the Murlough Nature Reserve. The story of Ardglass Golf Club and links began in 1896, the first incarnation was a 7-hole layout with a total length of less than 1000 yards and shoehorned into the area that is now the 1st and 18th fairways. Ardglass Golf Course is a course in a natural setting hugging the north-east coast of Ireland, with stunning views, unique golf holes and memorable people. The Irish Sea, which can be seen from all 18 tees and greens, comes into play on no fewer than 8 holes.
The Par 72 Championship Course was designed by famous Dublin Golf Architect Eddie Hackett, who had designed 80 courses. The Club has played host to the R&A and Senior European Tour having been used as a qualifying Course for the British Amateur and Senior British Opens, also hosting PGA events.
